Mother's Day 2014

Mother’s  Day celebrates the unsung heroes of our lives, who give more than most know about, sacrifice beyond their natural ability, pray till their knees bleed, read the same story 30 times a day, listen to the woes that seem undefeatable, and carry the battle sword for those they have given life to.

Mother’s Day is for remembering.

We remember the smiles and the hugs, the gentle “I love you” and the firm, “No!”.

We reminisce through the photos of days gone by, hoping to recapture the moments in our remembering.

We embrace the nostalgia of  the solid hand that holds our own, in good and bad.

We give thanks to the bold yet gentle warrior who fights for us with all they have in them.

A Mother’s Love Never Fails.

Yet it is that mark of love, unconditional in origin, which gives us the seed of thankfulness in the garden of our heart.

Without knowing that unconditional love, in its deepest truest form, we can never understand the majesty of grace.

And we may never really know the beauty of being grateful.

If it weren’t for the gift of Mom and the love she planted in faith.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

~1 Corinthians 13:4-13
