Celebrate today and Rejoice!

In honor of our youngest I had to share one of her favorite verses, at least it is a verse she has patterned her life after!

~ This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it! ~

Psalm 118:24

From the moment she was born, she has brought light and love into our home.  Of course, we celebrated another blessing and privilege to be parents.  Her siblings adored her, as all youngest are prone to endure. Her extended family oohed and ahhed to the smell of newborn sweetness, but we knew in our hearts she was filled with a joy that only comes from one source.

She radiates happiness, as if bouncing on air as she walks.

Thanks to my mother, she is a fan of 80’s music and seems to know the moves to every oldies song.

She has a sense of humor, well…she thinks she is funny. ( Most of the time she is, but don’t tell her I said so.)

A sensitive heart beats passionately within the confines of her chest, almost pressing out at times as she defines with rare compassion in one so young the need to defend the defenseless and cheer for the underdog.

She has a strength that belies her age, as if she is an old soul wandering paths she has already known.

She has a gift of beauty that shines in the dark days lighting our way back to hope, to faith, to love.

She LOVES BACON and donuts. Her motto is : Peace, Love and Donuts. Somehow.. I don’t know how the word bacon, which she refers to as, ‘meat-candy’, missed that auspicious declaration.

We are thankful for this sweet girl who as graced our lives for the last 12 years and hopeful for the woman she will someday become. Though, I confess, I want her to  stay little just a while longer.

Happy Birthday to our bird-loving, art-whimsical, dancing-to-the oldies, bacon loving, little girl.

In honor of our birthday star, today I want to encourage you to REJOICE!  It is a glorious day, because He has made it. Look for the beauty in every moment and steal it away to share that light with one another.
